Stories from space don't have to be so difficult. Join a storytelling workshop where you'll learn to tell tales about moon craters, star birth, and exploding stars. Learn to use star charts, and tell your guests what they are seeing in the sky and how to plan twilight and nighttime experiences.
We see great potential for Norway as a leading destination for astrotourism. With the right tools and knowledge, tourism operators can create experiences that combine science, nature and culture in a way that both excites and adds value for guests.
The course provides you with the competence you need to tell engaging and credible stories about space. The course consists of a physical gathering in 3 parts of 6 hours each, as well as digital follow-up and guidance afterwards.
Part 1 – History Workshop
Participants get their first introduction to astrophysical phenomena and the mythology of the starry sky, and what tools they have to learn how to find selected objects in the sky.
Part 2 – We practice outside
Tell your story and gain experience in how to use the starry sky as a canvas for good experiences in the dark. We'll use simple tools, such as handheld binoculars, to enhance the experience.
Part 3 – Quality and Preparations
Learn what's needed to take guests out for a safe and warm experience in the darkness and cold. With simple tricks like dim lighting, hot drinks, and well-prepared surroundings, your guests will feel safe outdoors in the dark while you tell your stories from outer space.
Follow-up
Get help and guidance from the instructor to complete the new experience at your workplace, with your guests, where we will fine-tune the story and all the details of the programme until you have a finished script that safely guides you through the experience.
